Common and proper noun 

A proper noun:
This names a specific place, person or thing.

A common noun:
This names any one member of a group
of places, things, and persons.

  Brownie                                                dog

   Identify singular and plural

   Singular noun
   This names one person, place or thing.
 
   Plural noun
    This names more than one person, place or thing.
    Many Plural  forms are   done by adding  -s to the singular form.

    dog - dogs       car -cars    boy - boys

   Some other forms of nouns are done by changing the endings:  s, x, z, ch, f and sh
   and adding -es  to the singular.
 
  dish - dishes    peach - peaches

  The plural of some nouns is irregular.

   Man - men    tooth - teeth   mouse - mice

   Changing the F  to ves:

   leaf - leaves     calf - calves
