common writing errors

Common usage errors

These are common usage  errors me often makes when writing sentences
Here, they're  some of them that will improve your grammar skills.

Good,  well

Good is an adjective.
"That's a real good song you have there." He said.
The type of song a good song.
We often use good after verbs like:  taste, seem, feel and look.

Well  is an adverb.
She looks well.
That's how she looks. You look  well.

Like,   As

Like is a preposition that deals with similarity.
Use like leading to an object.
The sun is like the moon in a way, they both gives a glow.
Don't use it before a verb or subject.

Use as to compare.
Look at one of my poem.
e.g drought as broom  swept acres content dry.
Unlike like you can use As before a verb or subject.

Among, between

Among is for three or more things.
Among  my children, John is the kindness.

Between is use for two items.
Between Sam and junior, it's Sam though.

Fewer, less

Fewer  for things that can be counted.
Fewer of the mangoes aren't  good.

Less is for things that cannot be counted.
Less rain fall will influence a drought.

Affect, effect

Affect is originally  a verb. It carries a change
The flies seriously affect the wounds.

  effect is originally a noun. This givs results
The hard rain bought a great effect due to the long drought .

Accept, except

Accept is a verb. Form an agreement.
I accept her love with deep passion.  

Except is a preposition. It serve an effective purpose. Other than.
Everybody  likes me except  Sandra and her mom.

Leave, let

Leave and let are both verbs.

Leave means to "move"  "go away" or "stay"
Leave me alone Troy.

Let means to give "permission"  ask to "command"
Let us go to the mall now.

Its, it's

Its  is a personal pronoun. It's for your property.
The cat wobbles its  tail.

It's is a contraction of  it  is.  It's  works for it is, or it has
It's John's bag you.

Loose, lose

The adjective Loose this means to "pull apart".
The cow easily loose from the tree.

Lose a verb this means to fail to "keep, held, win"
David the lose the marbles I gave him to keep.

Many, much

Many is about pointing on a direct amount of,
Many people in the world wish they'll live forever.

Much  is about an unknown amount of,
How much time is before lunch?

Who,  whom

Who is only use a subject. "Question"
Who  drove away the car last night?

Whom is only use  for an object. "Question"
To whom this bag belong?

Farther, further

Farther is refer to a distance. "Journey"
Maypen is farther to the east than Chapelton.

Futher is use for more points,  to an extent, adding
What is your Futher take on this shirt?

May, can

The verb may  is use to permit,
Mom may I go to the store now?

Can is use to display capability to do,
Hello Thomas, can I  you empty the garbage.
